Life, Sized
This installation series plays with photographic scale; where usually one might photograph a myriad of different sized objects and places and present them as a series of photographs all the same size, here a collection of small plasticine models have been photographed and presented at life size for each of the subject animals – From a 2.5m long tiger, to a bee that is in fact smaller than the original model. The series references both the naïve, with a child-like imagining of toys becoming reality; and the world of science, with the animals posed in the style of taxonomic specimens, echoing the life-like, yet life-less, museum displays, that may have fascinated and inspired that childhood play.
Here's a closer look at the original model photography, which as you can see, presents quite differently when not at life-size.
